Xiamen, a coastal city in China's Fujian province, is a beautiful city with lots to explore. With a long history as a colonial trading port, beautiful South China is a mix of history and natural charm. The city is home to several major universities, including Xiamen, Huaqiao, Jimei, Xiamen University of Technology, Xiamen Medical University, which is one of the most prestigious universities in China as a member of Project 985.

HOW TO REACH XIAMEN
- Flight - Xiamen currently has an airport called Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The airport serves international flights to over 45 international and over 90 domestic cities in China. International flights to Xiamen are available from Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, London, Paris, etc. Xiamen can also be reached from Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Kunming, Lijiang, etc. For visitors coming to Xiamen from international countries and regions, these flights are usually the most popular way to get there.
- Rail - Xiamen currently has two main railway stations - Xiamen Station and Xiamen North Station. Xiamen Railway Station is close to Xiamen's main tourist areas, Gulangyu Island, Nanputuo Temple, Xiamen Botanical Garden, etc. However, Xiamen North Railway Station usually shares more bullet trains.
- Sea - As a coastal city with a long coastline of 262.6 kilometers, Xiamen also operates international cruise ships. However, international cruise lines are limited. The most common is the Xiamen-Japan-Xiamen round cruise. You can choose from two cruise packages: Xiamen-Miyako Island-Xiamen 4 nights 3 nights and Xiamen-Okinawa-Miyako Island-Xiamen 5 nights 4 nights. The schedule for these cruises varies each year.
HOW TO GET AROUND
- Local Bus - Buses serve more than 60 routes in the city. Popular attractions include Xiamen University, Railway Station, Lotus Village, Dongdui Ferry, Pearl Bay, Airport, Huicheng Business Center, Jiangtou Beixi and Huangchen.
- Ferry - Ferries are a great and comfortable way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the region's smaller islands. As the city's most attractive island, Gulangyu is connected to the city by ferry. Tourist ferries from Dongdu Port and Haicang Songyu Port are currently only available during the day and go to Gulangyu Sanqiutian Wharf and Necwo Wharf.
- Metro - Xiamen Metro Lines 1 and 2 are now open to the public. Line 1 is an overseas line connecting Xiamen Island and Jimei. Line 2 is the city's main east-west line. Lines 3 and 4 will open at the end of 2020. Xiamen Metro Lines 5 to 11 are still in the planning stages. Xiamen's subway system is expected to consist of six lines with a total length of 231 km by 2020.
