HOW TO REACH MORELIA

  • Flight - The General Francisco Mujica foreign Airport, also known as the Morelia International Airport, serves as a hub for domestic and foreign air travel for Morelia residents. (MLM). The distance to the airstrip from the north side of Morelia is about 15 miles.
  • Rail - On the LA-Dallas route, the US's passenger trains stop at El Paso, which is close to the border. Amtrak's Sunset Limited route connects New Orleans, Houston, Tucson, and LA to El Paso. Additionally, the Texas Eagle of Amtrak (from Chicago, St. Louis, Little Rock, and Dallas) is picked up by the Sunset Limited in San Antonio overnight. The trip takes just over 16 hours from Los Angeles, 19.5 hours from Houston, or 26.5 hours from Dallas and 48.5 hours from Chicago, including an eight-hour stopover in San Antonio.
  • Road - All of the main border crossings have frequent Greyhound service. Some of their buses will also cross the border to a bus stop in Mexico, saving you a lot of trouble. In order to make your through tickets more convenient but still require advance planning, Greyhound agents overseas should be able to reserve them with their Mexican counterparts. You can board a bus to Mexico City from as far north as Houston or LA thanks to the fact that many Mexican bus firms cross the border into the US.

HOW TO GET AROUND

  • Bus - Mexico has a great road connectivity and network throughout its cities. There are local buses as well as long-distance buses that carry you to your destination. There are different classes in a bus, similar to that in a flight, choose according to your comfort. Some of the Bus Companies that are well-known: ETN Turistar, Grupo ADO, Primera Plus and Grupo Estrella Blanca.
  • Taxi - In Mexico, the app Cabify is used most of the time to book Taxis for everywhere. Choose your vehicle according to your comfort and pocket!
  • Bike/Car - You could also rent a car or bike and roam around freely as you desire! You would need the Driver License from your hometown/ country as well as the Mexico Liability Insurance to drive a car in Mexico.
