Java, also known as Java or Jawa, is an Indonesian island located southeast of Malaysia and Sumatra, south of Borneo (Kalimantan), and west of Bali. About half of Indonesia's population lives on the island of Java, which dominates the country both politically and economically. HOW TO REACH JAVA ISLAND
- Flight - The city of Jakarta is well connected with uncountable international and domestic flights. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport are his two main international airports in Jakarta. There are also international flights connecting other Javanese cities such as Surabaya, Solo, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Semarang with other cities in the world.
- Sea - Jakarta is connected by sea routes to most of the ports in the country. There are frequent ferry services between Banyuwangi/Ketapang port in East Java and Gilimanuk in Bali, and between Merak port in Java and Bekauheni in South Sumatra.
HOW TO GET AROUND
- Bus - Java has an excellent bus service connecting almost all towns and villages, a combination of coaches, minibuses and bemos.
- Private Renting - Most private cars are actually small minivans that comfortably seat 8-10 people. So if you can share the cost with your fellow travelers, it's a great deal.
- Taxi - Taxis are available everywhere in Java (except small villages). Bluebird and Express taxis have a good reputation. The former even has a handy mobile app for online booking.
- Ojeks - A Motorcycle Transport that only runs around nightfall, it is well-trusted by the locals for daily commute around night. It doesn't have a running meter, so bargaining is not possible, the rates are fixed.
